Neurotoxin Treatment Information (Patient-Friendly)
What is a neurotoxin and how does it work?
Neurotoxins are injectable medications that temporarily relax specific muscles by blocking the nerve signals that tell those muscles to contract. When the muscles relax, the skin above them appears smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing new lines from becoming deeper.
How long does neurotoxin last?
Most patients begin to notice results within 3–7 days, with full results typically visible around 10–14 days after treatment. Results generally last 3–4 months, although this can vary depending on the individual, the treatment area, and the product used.
Common treatment areas include:
-
Forehead lines
-
Frown lines between the eyebrows (“11” lines)
-
Crow’s feet around the eyes
-
Bunny lines on the nose
-
Lip flip (upper lip)
-
Chin dimpling
-
Downturned corners of the mouth
-
Jawline slimming and teeth grinding (masseter muscles)
-
Neck bands
